Machu Picchu – a secret in the jungle

I have always dreamt to go to Peru and see by my own eyes this incredible place which is covered by mystery, Machu Picchu. I am sure that all of you have heard at least once about an Inca city which was built on a mountain almost 2, 430 meters above sea level. Machu Picchu presents a perfect combination of green spaces with pre-Columbian  civilization.

The etymology of the city is quite interesting, the word machu in the Quechua language means ‘old ‘ or according others researchers can mean ‘old person’. What is more, the second part of the name picchu has meaning of ‘peak or simply mountain with a broad base that ends in sharp peaks’.

It is probably that Machu Picchu was built between  1450-1460. Many of the archaeologists who occupy themselves with the examination of this area claim that the city was risen as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti. The city had existed before the Spanish conquistadors arrived to America, but thanks to American historian Hiram Bingham achived internacional fame and interested among people.

In my modest opinion, Machu Picchu should be on a list of each world explorer as a place worth visiting. In addition, visiting the holy city like some of Inca people say, gives to us a great opportunity to find out how many effort was put to build such an amazing citadel in such a difficult localization. For sure, it required a good organization and ideal plan. I am still amazed, how they did it in that century. Well, as we can see everything is possible even if there is no adequate equipment.
I hope I manage to go there as soon as possible. And I wish you the same if you have this desire too J
